Rucker -
The Best Seat in the House
One morning, life started anew for award winning TV producer, best selling
author and humorist Allen Rucker. Like the day Elvis died or O.J.
was acquitted, he says, the Tuesday you wake up paralyzed
is not a day you soon forget. His rare condition, transverse myelitis,
diagnosed more than a decade ago, is one in which the immune system mistakes
the spinal chord as the enemy and attacks it. In an account of his life
after that fateful Tuesday that Ben Stein calls uniquely honest,
insightful, moving, and uplifting, and Jimmy Kimmel adds, heartbreakingly
funny, Rucker shows us how he forged a whole new way of seeing the
world and lived to tell the tale.
Rucker has you laughing and crying at his exploits
he has you

Allen Rucker describes his new life with honesty, accessibility and impudence...very
funny.
Talk of the Nation, National Public Radio
A visiting lecturer at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Rucker has spoken
widely since The Best Seat In The House was released in January,
07, including engagements at Stanford University, Vanderbilt University,
and the Integris Jim Thorpe Rehab Hospital in Oklahoma City, and upcoming
events at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehab Center and Goodwill Industries
of Middle Tennessee. Dr. A.E. Moord, director of Jim Thorpe, said of his
visit: Mr. Ruckers message and down-to-earth sense of humor
made a deep connection with both patients and staff.
His message
was inspiring, and I truly believed Allen reached out and made a connection
with many of our patients as he shared his experiences
It was through
his down-to-earth humor that he bridged some of the anxieties surrounding
disabling conditions such as his
we all grew from this experience

.I greatly admire and respect Allen for his courageous work
He
so honest and candid in exposing his vulnerabilities, his confusion, his
anxiety, his self-doubts, as well as the very difficult work that goes
into finding meaning in ones life after losing so much
.I know
there are many who have tried to communicate how TM has so profoundly
and dramatically changed your life consider Allens book as
the message youve been trying to share
