Dr. Caren Sax is Professor and Chair of the Department of Administration, Rehabilitation, and Postsecondary Education and Director of the Interwork Institute at San Diego State University. Dr. Sax teaches in the Rehabilitation Counseling Master’s Degree program and the Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership/Community College Leadership Concentration. As Institute Director, she oversees external funding to address: systems change efforts to improve school-to-work transition services for students with disabilities as they exit the K-12 school system, including person-driven planning; removing barriers to employment; technical assistance and continuing education for state vocational rehabilitation agency and community college disability service programs; professional development activities related to assistive technology and universal design for non-traditional learners; and training and degree programs via distance education.Caren Sax

Her latest research is investigating interdisciplinary collaboration competencies that support transition services for youth with disabilities, and the access to and acquisition of assistive technology for individuals with disabilities to increase opportunities in education, employment, and community integration. Dr. Sax collaborates nationally and internationally with colleagues to build capacity and improve services for individuals with disabilities.
